Welcome to the Weblog
Welcome to the Plant Biosecurity Program’s weblog and forum…and welcome to a way of learning that’s as ancient as it is new.
Almost 2400 years ago the great Greek philosopher Plato founded the world’s first academic institution at Akademia, a sanctuary near Athens dedicated to the goddess of wisdom. Students and scholars travelled there from all over Greece and beyond to exchange ideas, to argue and to explore the great questions of their time.
That quest, and those questions, are just as important 25 centuries later; and to address them five of Australia’s leading universities have created a new, open approach that goes beyond the bounds of any single institution.
The Plant Biosecurity Program is a super-graduates school that provides a bigger and more powerful forum for learning, research and creativity than anything Australia has seen before.
This program is your forum…and your opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of our plant (agricultural, built and natural) security, our stewardship of the environment and our knowledge of the planet.
The Weblog will keep you informed of information and events relating in general to the Plant Biosecurity Program. And the Forums is a space for you – the students, so no matter which units you are enrolled in, can interact with each other, all of the academics and other invited people.
